Folks:
This might be interesting to you. I'm playing guitar. Doing the Dances
of Universal Peace is a great way to bring in the New Year.
Peace,
Bill

> New Year’s Eve
> Great news—we are again joining with dance circles across the globe
> in welcoming in the New Year (and new decade) with the Dances of
> Universal Peace!
>
> We received lots of feedback that last year’s event, attended by at
> least 80 people, was a wonderful way to begin the New Year. So we
> are keeping the same format:
>
> 8:30 Light refreshments and socializing
> 9:00 Dances of Universal Peace
> 11:00 Candlelighting ceremony, meditation
> 12:00 First Dances of 2010
>
> Last year, members of Tingsha provided their “soundscape” experience
> to guide us into meditation, then, at midnight, brought us out of
> the silence with the sounds of their beautiful gongs. It was a very
> special part of the evening, and we hope they will be able to join
> us again this year.
>
> The venue will again be the Center of the Heart (Church of Religious
> Science), 487 North Turnpike Road, in Santa Barbara. Donation is $20.
>
> We do need volunteers to help with providing and setting up
> refreshments, publicizing the event (putting up posters, handing out
> postcards, sending out the word via personal email lists), setting
> up the room and putting the chairs back afterwards, and cleaning up
> the kitchen area. Please let me know if you are available to help.
>
> So, put this on your calendar now and start spreading the word!

> Third Thursday Dance Circle
> In order to concentrate on our big New Year’s Eve event, we have
> decided to forego the regular 3rd Thursday dance circle for December.
>
> Thank you to everyone who participated in the November dance circle.
> The filming turned out very well. (Thank you, Rick Goodfriend.) And
> it was a thrill for me to have enough people to lead “My House Shall
> Be a House of Prayer for All People!”
>
> Additional Events
> (1) The Sunburst Community is holding an evening of the
> Dances of Universal Peace on Saturday, Dec 12. The potluck dinner
> will begin at 5:00 p.m., followed by the Dances, starting at 7:00
> p.m. For more information, see: http://www.sunburstonline.org/upcomingevents.htm
>
> (2) Tingsha’s Winter Solstice Harmonic Renewal Sound
> Journey will take place on Sunday, December 20th, starting at 7:00
> p.m. This gathering is a unique, musical sound experience. Six
> musicians create a live sound journey with the use of Tibetan bowls
> and bells, gongs, flutes, tingshas, shakers, drums, rattles,
> tamboura, harp, and voice. Participants join together in ceremony by
> creating a seasonal altar, then experience a vibrational "surround-
> sound" atmosphere that is wonderful for journeying, meditation, or
> relaxation. Tickets ($20) are available in advance only. Please call
> Bob or Shanon Sedivy at 684-1865 for tickets and location
> information. Note: space is very limited, and the event fills quickly.
>
> (3) The Dances of Universal Peace Quarterly Retreat will
> take place over Martin Luther King, Jr., weekend—January 16 to 18.
> This retreat features Dance leaders Tasnim Fernandez, Tui
> Wilschinsky, and Yarrow Nelson. Registration is only $99 (postmarked
> through Dec. 31), which includes heated cabin lodging and vegetarian
> dinners. Our theme this year is "Inner and Outer Health through the
> Dances." You can see more information and print out the registration
> form at: http://www.openheartmusic.org/wq10.pdf.
